i have a dimenstion 4500 desktop , windows xp. its been running really well, until yesterday. started to get popups, when i rebooted, the system would not reboot. it comes to the "safe mode" menu  but when i select any of the options, including, "back to last known good configuration", it spits out some multidisk messages, then goes back to the safe mode menu. i tried to do a repair from my dell disk, but it wont go. when i finally gave up and decided to go with "reinstall" xp, it asked me which drive partition i wanted it installed on. it gave me two options, 1 was a fat32 partition with approx 500 meg, the other, my c drive with 38,000 meg. i stopped there in case it was going to overwrite all my files. is there something i can do to restore this pc short of pulling the drive out and slaving it off another pc to retrieve the data. please help!!
