Problem: Unwanted Program Installed from Net

Hi,

I have a problem where an unwanted program has somehow been installed on my PC. Every time i start up my Internet browser, it launches a page which demands payment for the service. I just want to delete it from my PC to stop it starting up every time I use the internet: it constantly plays music.

I have tried going through the control panel to remove programs, but it seems to do nothing.

Thanks for your help.

Run a spyware scan on your PC and see if that clears it out. If not, you MAY be able to get rid of it by using the "System Restore" function and restoring your PC to an earlier time when that was not there.

Otherwise, Post on the "Other Software" section as your issue is not related to MS Office or MS Works (this section).

Sounds like you've been hijacked. Open Tools>internet options on IE's toolbar. Click General tab. Fill in the box with the correct address you want as your home page. Leave IE open and launch Spybot Search&Destroy. Look in lower lefthand corner for button that says Tools. Click it to expand the list. Click IE Tweaks that appears in the list at the left. Put check in boxes "Lock hosts file" and "Lock IE start page". That will prevent any hijackers from changing your home page again. Exit Spybot and close IE.
