I have performed a HJT , I have done all the things recommended on this site such as installing Symantec virus scanner, running eTrust antivirus scanner, spy sweeper scan, XoftSpy, spybot-search and destroy, etc ........
---BUT--- I am still having issues with only certain things. I can not download AIM from AOL. Matter of fact I cant even get on AOL.. I can't get my Yahoo Music Engine (where I have all my music stored) to work either. I can't use Google mapquest feature either. But everything else appears to running good and fast.
Hey bam, thanks for the input. I don't think that is causing the problem because I just downloaded those after the problems started occurring. I only did so on recommendations from ChrisM on the FAQ's section referencing virus/infections. Anyone else have thoughts???
You have run quite a few programs: some may even be causing conflicts;
Such as running Symantec--eTrust--Xoftspy together, since they all perform the same function, you should pick one of those and turn off or dump the other 2.
Spybot S&D---Spysweeper, while both good tools, run 1 active and use th other as a "stand alone" tool.
If this does not help to resolve your issue; might need to look at another HJT log.
you wrote "I can not download AIM from AOL. Matter of fact I cant even get on AOL." Did you mean, you can't even access the AIM site? Or do you get to the AIM site, attempt to download, only to have the download "fail" in some sense? [If so, can you elaborate on precisely what's happening?] Or is the problem that, you can complete the download, but then have problems installing it?
If you can't download AIM directly from AOL, have you tried downloading it from an alternate site:
If you can't download (or run) AIM from these alternate sites as well, then it probably means something is blocking/restricting your access to the AOL/AIM site(s)... if so, we could examine your HOSTS file, restricted zones, &etc.

another possibility: there's a free "multi-network" chat program called Trillian [Basic version].... it's a single program, that allows you to simultaneously log into AIM, as well as ICQ, MSN Messenger, and Yahoo! Messenger. While it may not allow you access to all the features of AIM, if your goal is simply to be able to chat with your buddies, this should suffice:
