Here is a good tutorial for how to post a hijackthis log.  Follow Step 2 down to the beginning of Step 5.  You should have your hijackthis log on what they call the clipboard. Now all you have to do is go to the Dell thread here that you have been posting to and click the Reply. Use the keys pressed at the same time (Ctrl + V) to paste into the box.

Download and install CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/.  Don't run it yet.

Start => Control Panel => Add/Remove then scroll down to find the program and click the program to highlight it. Over to the right you will see the tab Change/Remove.
Click the Change/Remove to Remove the program.
 and remove(uninstall) the following, if present:

WildTangent
MyWebSearch

Anything with ' search' in the entry that you didn't install.
Anything with ' toolbar' in the entry
Anything with ' Web Rebates' in the entry

The above could appear anywhere within the entry. Be careful not to remove any personal or system software.
If you are unsure about anything PLEASE take notes and post back and ask before doing anything.

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

To display hidden files and folders

1. Open Folder Options in Control Panel.
   • Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
   • Double-click Folder Options.
2. On the View tab, under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.

Start => All Programs => Accessories => Windows Explorer and click Windows Explorer. You can use the left pane and locate My Computer and click the "+" to expand the tree. You can click on the Program Files folder and find the folders in the right pane. Only delete items in red.

    C:\Program Files\Viewpoint
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\CMEII (Note: you have to go to Program Files => Common Files => then find the CMEII folder to delete it.
    C:\PROGRA~1\MIDNIG~1 If you cannot find this don't worry

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\GMT (Note:go to Program Files =>Common Files => then find the GMT folder and delete the folder.

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click " Fix checked".

Let's clear out everything in the ' prefetch' folder, to prevent anything we're fixing and deleting, from starting back up when your system is rebooted. To do that, let's:

1)  Click " Start", then " My Computer"
2)  Double-click " Local disk" or your current system drive.
3)  Double-click " Windows"
4)  Double-click " Prefetch"

Now we're ready to clear out everything in this folder.

5)  Scroll down to the last available file, and while holding down the SHIFT key, click on the last available file. That should select all files in that folder.
6)  Right-click anywhere on the selected files, then select " Delete".
7)  Close the window.

 Empty your Recycle Bin. Run CCleaner

Glad there is some improvement.

Let's move HiJackThis to it's own folder; like c:\HJT. Also move the " Backups" folder, for HiJackThis, if present. Do not have it on the Desktop Please!

 

Download, unzip to your desktop CWShredder and run it, then:

1.  Click " Check For Update"

    ( If an update isn't available, skip to step #4.)

2.  Click " Click here to Download the upate".
3.  When the new version has been downloaded, click " Save".
4.  Click " Fix ->"

If you don't already have it, download, install and run AdAware SE Personal.

-

Next, check for, and download any available updates:

1.  click " Check for updates now".
2.  Click " Connect".
3.  If updates(definitions) are available click " Ok", otherwise, click " Ok".
4.  Click " Finish".

-

Next, configure AdAware to be as effective as possible:

1.  Click the ' gear' in the upper-right hand corner of the AdAware Window.
2.  Click Scanning, and check(tick) the following:

    Scan within archives
    Scan active processes
    Scan registry
    Deep-scan registry
    Scan my IE Favorites for banned URLs
    Scan my Hosts file

3.  Click " Tweak".
4.  Click " Scanning Engine", then check(tick) the following:

    Unload recognized proceses & modules during scan

5.  Click " Cleaning Engine", then check(tick) then following:

    > Always try to unload modules before deletion
    During removal, unload Explorer and IE if necessary
    Let Winodws remove files in use at next reboot
    Delete quarantined objects after retoring

6.  Then click " Proceed"

Now, let AdAware locate and remove anything it finds, by:

1.  Click " Start".
2.  Check(tick) " perform full system scan".
3.  Click " Next".

Exit the program.

If you don't already have it, download, install and run Spybot S & D. Next, update the current definitions by:

Next, check for, and download any available updates:

1. Click " Search for Updates".
2. Check(tick) all available updates.
3. Click " Download Updates".
4. Click " Search & Destroy".
