I would like to create a number of gatekeeper devices on a VMAX in a specific disk group that I can then allocate out to windows clusters that use symcli as and when they are needed.

The issues I have are that if I use SMC to create GK devices I cannot control which disk group they are created on , they seem to be spread over a number of different disk groups.

If I try to create normal disks I can control the disk group but when I try to define the disk as a GK using symgate I get the following message 'The physical device with the specified name cannot be found '  even though a symdev show on the same address works ok. I am guessing that to use symgate the host I run the command from has to be masked to the target lun? I dont want to have to run symgate every time a new windows cluster is commisioned, I want to have a pool of devices ready that are already defined as GK thet I can use.
