NDMP user authentication - how to setup

I have configured an "ndmp" user on the VNX control station and set the password using the following command:

/nas/sbin/server_user server_2 -add -md5 -password ndmp

However, even after running that command and setting the password, the avsetupndmp script is unable to authenticate with the VNX.  Any ideas?

    Any error messages?

    Is the NDMP service running?

    Telnet to the NDMP port?

    Trying 10.154.80.11...

I am on the NDMP node and trying to run the "avsetupndmp" script which tries to establish the connection between the NDMP node and the VNX, but the connection still fails with the authentication failure error.

Port 10000 , if you telnet to that port and get some funky characters ..NDMP is listening.

looks good, it's listening. Now you just need to figure out why Avamar ( i assume you are trying to connect from Avamar) is having issues.

It looks like you are talking to the control station

NDMP runs on the data mover – you need to use the correct address of an interface on the data mover
