AABBYY

Re. Dell Dimension 4700/Windows XP.  I had to have the OS reinstalled using disks that came with the PC..  Prior to reinstallation I had an aabbyy program that was used in scanning, etc.that came installed on the PC.  The program is no longer installed & I can find no disk to reinstall. The AABBYY web site seems to only have the program for sale.  Is there a free version available?

Your advice will be appreciated.

The Abbyy Fine Reader is in your drivers package.

Disconnect your printer. Download and run this patch to completely remove the printer from your computer.

    Restart your computer.

    Download the XP Drivers.

Install the XP Drivers, you'll be prompted when to connect your printer.

When to Dell All-In-One Center opens make sure to add the program to the list that you want to send the scans to.

I have a copy of all the latest drivers(2000, XP and Vista), patches for my printer. Have burned them to a CD for future references. You could even save the post to the disk. Saves download time.

Thanks Rick.  It worked.  Didn't see anything that said AABBYY but no matter as I can now scan again.  Do I need to keep the removal tool "patch/update"? I have printed & save your post for possible future use.

My thanks and appreciation again.  It is great to have a knowledge person to turn to.
