See this MS Knowledge Base article:
You receive an "Access is denied" error message when you try to install Windows XP Service Pack 2
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/873148Note that editing the registry is involved.

I went to the regedit and according to the post on the web this is the problem install service pack 2. i just don't know where it is to fix itMikeReply It's not an easy thing to explain in a few words to a person not familiar with the registry, etc. There are some things I could suggest that may help you avoid getting the 'No Installation' message in the first place and I think that's a better way for you to approach this.
First off I will assume you are using the Home version of XP and not XP Pro. Correct ?
Download, install, and run this tool.
Do the same with this program. Only difference: update it after it is installed, before you run it.

With these and especially with the SP2, first disable your AV program. It can interfere with the install. Post back after you get this much done. Don't fear asking questions.
