ok i will try to explain this and i hope someone will help figure/fix this problem that i am having . ok well i have had the 20inch sp2008wfp for about a month and a half , and well since i got the monitor i changed the motherboard. since i have changed the motherboard, the monitor will go to black screen at varied times but seems like it happens more when i am using video/call with skype. the power button stays blue most of the time but sometimes when it comes back from going black it will make the computer freeze not sure why but two times when it did that it says auto detect signal going to power savings and the power button will turn orange. also it made my computer go to blue screen saying windows needs to shut down. but that only happened twice please someone help!!!! it makes me stress out everytime i use skype lol
no its not a skype issue cause i said it happened at varried times but happens more when i use skype. and thanks for all the help :) i appreciate it. how can it be a OS issue when the monitor is trying to go into power save all the time even when i am actively using the computer?
first one.... unplug the video cable from the back of your machine and plug it back in, then make sure it's tightened.
2nd one..... reinstall your driver. easiest way is to go into device manager and just uninstall it, then reboot when it tells you to. it will auto reinstall at startup and make you restart again
never heard of skype doing that on any os, windows mac linux whatever
thanks for replying jdelidc , i havnt tried unpluging the dvi cable and pluging it back up , but i have been doing some research and found some other people having the same problems and thats what they did so i did try that already, and since i did that, it didnt fix the problem but it has only happened once . before i reinstalled the video card drivers yesterday , i went to blue screen of death once again, and it said it was a nv4_disp problem. and that is Nvidia display . so i dont know what to do now. i never heard of skype doing that either .... but it just happens more often when using skype . when it happened yesterday , and i went to BSOD , i was watching a video... i am pretty sure its either a driver problem or a hardware problem between my monitor- video card-motherboard communicating with eatch other ,since i didnthave this problem before i installed the new mobo. but i could be wrong that is why i came to "DELL" forums cause i thought maybe "DELL" could give some insight on what i could do.

This is a skype/operating system issue, not a monitor issue.
