Autoplay Window

When I start up XP and as icons appear in the notification area I get this window in the upper left corner of the desktop.  The content listings scroll across too fast to determine what they are and they vary from day to day.  It has no effect on computer function.  Can anyone identify a solution to this?

This ocurred some time after installing an external hard drive.

It sees the hard drive as a device and scans it to see if it should play any of the files on it.  You can right click on the drive, left click on Properties, and turn off Autoplay.
