if I want to upgrade the dell I buy to pro or other os, what happen to the license of the os I brought for the computer. I assume they come with a CD rom. Can I reinstall that on another machine.
Legally you cannot install an OEM operating system on any computer other than the one on which it was installed originally. Practically, operating systems which do not have an activation requirement can be installed on another computer. If you buy a Dell with Windows XP installed you can't install it on another computer as it will fail to activate.
