Can't install Dell Media Experience

After repalcing my motherboard on my Dimension 4600, I'm trying to re-install Media Experience, but I get a pop-up box saying "this software can only be installed on a Dell".

So I guess my question is: what makes a Dell a Dell? Is there a particular installed program, or is it someting in the BIOS?

Thanks in advance.

    CTPhil,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

The information stored in the bios. Did you order the motherboard from Dell?

I got the MB on Ebay.

The computer is identified as a Dell in the BIOS.

Are there any workarounds? The install apparently fails because setup looks for "DELL" somewhere (registry?) and can't find it. Any way to add branding into the registry?
