    Hawk8060,

Norton AntiVirus is probably the culprit here.  Try this.  Click on Start|Run.  Type msconfig.  Press Enter.  Click on Services tab.  Click the box to "Hide All Microsoft Services".  Now uncheck everything else.  Apply.  Restart computer.  Ignore (close) the Configuration window on restart.  Attempt to install Adobe Flash player.  If it installs or not, run msconfig again.  Check "Normal Startup" box on General page.  Apply change and restart.

This procedure is sometimes necessary to install certain software, most notably HP All-in-One printer software, particularly if you are using AOL software.

    Hope this info helps.

    Hawk8060,

Forgot to ask.  Are you downloading Adobe Flash Player 9 to a folder, and installing from there, or are you trying the online update from the Adobe site?
