CD-RW disk causes system reboot

I have not been writing to or accessing CD-RW formatted disk recently but today when I tried by inserting a previously recorded CD-RW disk it caused the computer to immediatly reboot. It reboots to normal operation and so far everything else appears to be functioning OK. However, repeating the attempts to read a CD-RW continues to cause the computer to reboot. This happens for both the CD-ROM drive and the DVD writer drive.

My computer is a DELL Dimension 8200; 512MB RAM;
Two hard drives, Western Digital ST 3160023A & ST380021A.

DVD      drive is: LITE-ON DVDRW SOAW16935 (NERO OEM SUITE software)
CD-RW drive is: LITE-ON LTR-24102M

Thanks in advance for your help in solving this problem.

    Thank you fireberd for your quick reply.
    I followed your suggestion; uninstalled both drives, rebooted, found new hardward and restored both drives.
    However, this did not solve the problem.
    I will repost in the Desktop CD/DVD section.

    Thanks again for your interest and efforts.

    Uninstall both drives in the Device Manager, restart Windows and they will be detected and reinstalled.  If that doesn't take care of the problem,repost in the Desktop CD/DVD section.
