Data Recovery

Laptop hard drive crashed.  I have it in one of those USB connectors.  I've copied the entire thing onto a different computer except for the folder for my primary user account (has all of my documents in it).  Every time I try to copy it, the comp says access denied.  Is this cause it was the administrator account so its protected or is this probably the problem that crashed the drive in the first place?

Can anyone help accessing those files, since those are the only ones I really wanted anyway?

The old hard drive won't boot at all, I can only access it through windows explorer via the USB connection.
