Dell Data Safe Online Error LW32: File() In Use by Another Program

I keep getting Dell Data Safe Online Error "LW32:  File() In Use by Another Program" when attempting to backup my files.  I have closed down all other programs other than Data Safe Online.  Any ideas?

That software and service is horrid, I suggest you find another way to back up locally. Dell refuses to support it in a meaningful way.

Just not a good solution or product, read for yourself

Has anyone figured out a solution to this problem yet?  I'm the latest victim of the LW32 error message.  Strangely, it looks as if it's still backing up my files, even though I'm getting that error.

Any  help would be much appreciated!

I find this Dell DataSafe a terrible product.  The menus are awful, The reliablity of operation makes me not want to trust my backups on it.  It won't backup some file types.  There's very little documentation and no Dell support for it.

It's trial and error and mostly I get errors.  Twice now doing a backup it stays connected uploading even overnight for only a couple of gigabytes.

    Hello Everyone,

The LW32 error is caused by Limewire Version 3.2

What does that mean ' "LW 32 error caused by Limewire Ver 3.2"?   What is Limewire 3.2?  What can I do to keep from getting this error and back up my data?

I am getting this same error. Limewire is not on my computer. It does not show in Add/Remove programs of Control panel. I have searched for LW32 on my computer including hidden/system files, but find no reference to LW32. When is Dell going to provide better information regarding this. Why is it even accessing LW32? Can't it be excluded? I have no idea what has and has not been backup up. Can Dell please address this? It seems you have a very poor product out there.

I get this error also. I have no limewire, total search of the drive shows no "LW32" file.

And: why does one busy file STOP the entire backup?

A normal backup program would skip that and continue with other files...

    Here's a clue!

    in %USER%\AppData\Roaming\DataSafeOnline\work is the OnlineBackup.LOG

[which has useful information, unlike the 'clientlog' or 'activity log']

    > Backup Finished with error(s). RW32: File (0.1.01C8_9A8E_B3B4_ECD0.0) in use by another program

That strange file name is actually the temp file holding the DataSafe backup!

So, if you have injected a rule to include %USER%\*

then you need to 'exclude'  %USER%\AppData\Roaming\DataSafeOnline\work

I'll know in a few hours if this works...

    My log includes the message...

Backup Finished with error(s). RW32: File (0.1.01C8_9CED_C89B_E020.0) in use by another program.

I encounter the message everytime I attempt a backup even after closing down everything I dare to.

    Dell...where are you?
