Was the Dell Express Upgrade to Vista program a scam? The dellvistaupgrade.com site used to say check back after 1600 GMT, 1 Feb 2007, but the time has passed and now the site just says "come back later." Does anyone know if or when Dell will ship the upgrade package? Thanks.

The upgrades will definitely be shipped, we're working to get the site up as soon as possible. I wish I had a definite ETA for you, I'll get updates out there as soon as I hear more. I can't thank you all enough for being so patient while we work this out.
Again, if you can't reach the main upgrade phone number ( 1-866-634-7426 ) , please get in touch with Dell customer service at 1-800-624-9897.

Aaron is working his rear end off this issue guys. He is a valuable resource on this project. he needs no acolades from me but I see the posts and he ALWAYS follows up.
They are shipping on 12/2, the site was only designed to take approx 500 people at at time, it got overloaded and crashed when so many people tried to go on it
I spoke to someone at the Vista Upgrade Support center today and he told me late February. Personally I am getting a little impatient with this deal, I as well assumed that my package would be shipped at the latest on the day of the Vista Release. Dell needs to get it together and get these sent out soon, there is no reason with the software available to the public that someone like myself who registered on the upgrade website the first day it was available shouldn't already have Vista up and running from Dell. I am getting so impatient I have considered buying it now, I know if you are a student you can get Home Premium from
www.studica.com for $75.
Well I don't know if it's a scam, but I think DELL should just send everyone a full copy of Vista as a show of good faith to all the people who like myself has had nothing but problems with Dell and their website right from the beginning when I purchased my Smartstep 200N Laptop back in 2003. You think I would have learned! 2 years after purchasing and warranty expiration I couldn't find any info on my laptop. Told me all I could do to upgrade was a 3 1/2 in. floppy disc drive which, had they checked the original invoice it would have shown that I already had one. Anyway I did upgrade to 2GB of RAM from 256MB is this not an upgrade? I also purchased a 80 GB external HD is this not an upgrade?I have yet to experience their award winning support.
I tried the site. Contacted the first number and they say the site is not up, can you call back tomorrow. Contacted the second number and they say this site is not up, can you call back tommorow. What the heck?
Both numbers all try to access the upgrade site and they both say the same thing? Why the two numbers?
I have had my computer since 1-3 ordered on 12-18 and the site has not allowed my express service tag to be entered. Customer service says I might have the wrong express tag but when I give it to them, they find me and its the right tag.
What next? there have been 12+ calls singe Jan 17th. Patience is wearing thin.
Sorry you're having so much trouble. The 1st number is the Upgrade Queue that was set up specifically to handle the upgrade requests. The 2nd number is for Dell Customer Service in general. As far as we have been informed, they should have the ability to escalate your issue. If no one was able to help you at either number, please contact the Unresolved Issues group here:
Well I just got off the phone with dell.. They told me mar or apr!! I can not believe this. This is my first and last dell computer they lie to us and you can't understand what they say half the time..
