desktop item I cannot remove

I have just installed a new dell computer and installed a hp printer # deskjet 6540. It is working just fine, however it placed a icon on my desktop and I cannot get it removed by right clicking and deleting because it does not give me that option. Please instruct me as to how to remove the icon. The iocn in question is;
'share-to-web upload program' I do not want this on my desktop.

Dell Dimension 8400
windows xp

thanks scott

    I removed it from my comp, but don't remember how. See if it's listed in add/remove programs. This fix fron HP produces dead links. Maybe you can connect.

    Right click icon/Properties/Set up button/Follow thru on install untill you see a info page where you can remove it/Then cancel out

    Try right clicking on the icon, go to Properties, remove the Read Only atttribute, then delete.
