Don't want to share programs

Question

I have two users set up on my pc. I am using Windows XP Pro. When I install a program while logged on to my account, it is also installed on my wifes account. Is there a way to prevent this?

Some programs are smart enough to ask.  Otherwise, you can still limit programs for your wife.  Firstly, you need to ensure that your account has administrative rights and hers does not.  Then you need to turn off simple file sharing.  Then you need to set the security properties of the folders in quetion to not allow your wife's account access (this can mean not being able to view or not being able to run -- whichever you want).

That would hide them from obvious site, yes.  You might also need to remove them from the 'all users' start menu in a similar manner.  Using that method will not prevent her from running the programs in other ways, however, and will not prevent her from looking at what's in your folders if she has administrative rights.
