What operating system are you running?  If you are using Vista, I don't believe you can downgrade IE to 6.

 

Are you able to use any other browser (e.g., Firefox or Opera) instead?

robin, to begin with, IE7 is vastly more secure than IE6 and I don't think you should downgrade.  Remote access is generally blocked by your firewall and has to be allowed in that program.  You can also allow the remote access site within IE7 by opening Tools/properties/security.  You may need IT support from work to do this.  As already suggested, it may be best to add a second browser such as Fire Fox rather than removing IE7.  Download a free copy here.  http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ , if your browser is really causing your problem this should fix it.

Thanx for the insight guys. I am using Windows XP Larry.  And believe me paindoc I really am not happy about downgrading.  However, the IT tech I spoke to said I should be able to upgrade back to 7 once I got everything to work.  That really didn't make much sense.  I went through with the IT tech and added the appropriate things I needed in the internet tools security option, but I keep getting the same white screen.  According to my Welcome Pack, I can't use browsers other then internet explorer.  I tried Firefox on my husband's desktop and couldn't even access the intranet or my e-mail.  However I did use Safari and the port forwarder actually opened another screen but it was just a different white screen of death. It was actually just nice to see a different screen though.  On the off chance that it really isn't internet explorer, could the Citrix program I had to install be somewhat responsible.  I was just told to install it, but I'm not really sure what it does or if it needs to be set-up in some way.

A couple of things. When using Mozilla Firefox, did you try using the IE Tab add-on?

 

Second, to go back to IE6 with XP you need to...

 

Start, control panel, add/remove programs, show updates.

 

Go down to Internet Explorer 7 and click on remove. You'll be prompted with the message, these programs were installed and may not work correctly. Click ok abd follow the instructions. Upon restarting, you'll have IE 6 back. I thn used this blocker so it won't re-install.

Third, I work for a newspaper and saw that program on our XP Professional computers and they have Internet Explorer 7 on them. We haven't used the program yet, but it has a red X on the program, for now. wasn't quite sure what it was for but I'm thinking it has to do with getting information from somewhere.

First off, a BIG HUGE THANK YOU to everyone for their ideas.  If I charged my company for as much time as I have been sitting here cursing, I could take longer leave.  Anyway, the solution I found was the IE add-on tab for Mozilla firefox.  Ironically, I can't access my e-mail or the company intranet like I can on IE7 (something concerning a cachewiper), but I have what I need to look up the patient information for my job.  Also, something else I tried which may help someone else with the same problem is a stand alone version of IE6.  I couldn't get it to accept the cookies from my company's website, but others may find it useful.
