Error for MSN/Windows Live Messenger

Whenever signing into MSN/Windows Live Messenger, I get this error about a corrupt file:
The file or directory/Documents and Settings/Stephanie Cascio/Local Settings/temporaryinternetfiles/Content.IE5/

There's a whole bunch of nymbers and letters after it and apparently it is a jpg file. It also says it is corrupt and unreadable and to run chkdsk utility. Any suggestions on what to do and what the problem is?

Open Internet Explorer, click on Tools >Internet Options, then, Under Browsing History" click on the Delete Button.  Under Temporary Internet Files, click on the Delete button.  Let us know if that fixes the problem.

I also ran an anti-spyware, with still no luck.

Have you tried running the chkdsk utility?

I had no clue what the chkdsk utility was and how to run it. Mind explaining?

Since I have never seen Windows Vista, I can't be sure if it's done the same way as in XP.  Go to the help files on your computer and ask for help on chkdsk.  You'll be surprised at how many questions can be answered with information available at your fingertips on your own computer.

Alright, but this problem is on XP. It's on my father's computer.

If you know how to do it on XP, that'd be exactly what I need.

Go to Start > Help and Support and type error checking into the search box.

Still no luck, Steve. Ran an error check through the C Drive and it completed. Tried signing into MSN and still got the corrupt error message.

Open Windows Explorer and make sure that your folder options (click on View > Folder Options) are set to show hidden files, show system files, to not hide the extension of known file types.   Then sort by file type and see if you can locate the offending .jpg file and delete it.
