Files and settings transfer wizard

I bought a copy of Windows XP Professional without any SP and installed that on my DELL Laptop that came with Win XP Home SP2.  I installed it in the same folder (C:\Windows) and didn't realize that it was not upgrading it.
Before installing it though, I first ran the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard from Home edition Win XP and save the files on my HD in C drive. After installing the Professional edition, I tried retrieving the files and settings using the files stored earlier but it gave me error saying "The location you specified does not contain stored information". Hence I couldnt retrieve the information.
The user names are different in both the windows, and when I tried accessing the folder in Documents and Settings which stored my files in previous OS, I got error saying Access is Denied. I had file protection in place which didn't allow anyone else to access the folder except me with the user name.
How can I retrieve my files? Why is the Files and Settings and transfer wizard failing? Is it because of different versions of OS? Should I install Win XP Home from the CD that came with my laptop and then transfer files and settings and then backup all to a folder etc? Would that work?
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Priyanshu

No problems now. I copied the setting files to a DVD and ran the wizard from those files and it worked...
