flashing BIOS from A05 to A07 ?

Iam tempted to install the BIOS upgrade AO7 the lastest version available for my system ? I wanted to ask anyone out there who has done a BIOS flash from a Windows enviroment what potential problems this may cause me ! Iam a bit nervous about moving ahead with the BIOS Flashing ,I was recieveing a stop error for a while on this system till it finally would not boot to WindowsXP MCE 2005 at all ,B/4 when I recieved the error a reboot would recover my O/S intact ! However the stop error a common one amoung the XPS400 had a fix listed in support where you enter the CMOS/BIOS and in the drivers section change the hard drive from SATA to Raid ATA Autodetect the fix worked and I was jazzed when I booted up and had my O/S up and running again intact ,that is the setting my 250G.B. Samsung H.D. is still running on and Iam curious if when I apply the BIOS upgrade I may run into problems .I have been thinking of upgrading my CPU to the 3.4 G.B. ,the fastest available for this system ,however I was told must have latest BIOS ver A07 installed ,now I have not even purchased the new CPU ,and it may be a distant upgrade ,so should I apply the "if it aint broke dont fix it" rule of thumb ,or move forward with BIOS upgrade ,I have the update downloaded to my desktop ,will installing the BIOS Flash effect any of my current settings ,or software installations etc. Thank you to all that reply your advise and help will be greatly appreciated !

Dell 944 AIO PrinterI want to thank those who replied to my post ,thanks for letting me know I must first upgrade the BIOS to A06 B/4 moving onto A07 .I have decided to hold off on the BIOS flashing untill I get an UPS ,the building of eight condos I live in has been having electricial problems ,the lights will dim and sometimes flash ,if you turn on somthing that pulls power the lights dim ,this is a building that is only 20 years old built in 1985 ,PG& E has installed these new digitial meters ,however they are claiming the problem is with the eletricial in the building and the owners problem ,the owners association is near it wits end and possible legal action may be required ,so untill I get a UPS I would not dare attempt a BIOS Flash ,one time when ont the internet my PC lost power and shut down ,I have it connected to a very good highly rated surge protector that includes surge protection for my telephone line ,cable line for my TV Wonder and of course the PC power supply ! I cannot upgrade the proccessor for awhile any way and if fact was thinking of doing this,mid summer .So for now its "if it aint broke dont fix it" applies .I do have the Dell 4 year in home warranty good untilll 8/2010 !Thanks Again Gumba Nick
