Freezing

One day I clicked on Internet Explorer, and the computer "froze". This still happens even though we've re-installed Windows, and even updated to broadband. When it freezes, it does not completely stop, it just does not let you run any applications - you can still look through folders. After a while - when it decides to start again, it opens all the applications you have clicked on whilst it was "frozen". Any idea what is going on?
Thanks

    Igloo:

Just trying to get things straight, you encountered this problem and after performing a reinstallation of Windows, you still have the same problem? Did you perform a clean installation of Windows, or reinstall over the previous installation?

Please post back and tell us what system you have and exactly what type of broadband. Did your broadband provider require the installation of any special software to use their service (most do not)?
