Hi, RE: Dell dimension 2400/ LCD flat screen model E193FP/Intel Chipset-845G/GL/GV resolution 1280x1024 driver 4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318. OS= Dual boot WXPh/Ubuntu 7.10rc1 Problem... app. windows do not use all screen space. About 3mm open space between top of screen and top of window frames. Ubuntu graphical settings=Dell E193FP 1280x1024/75Hz/Intel i810 Chip set. (Dell advice; refresh at 60Hz Optimum) I am confronting this graphical problem since Gutsy Gibbon beta release. (OS-WXP runs fine) Any tampering with flat panel image positioning affects also OS-WXP. (no option) Any hint welcome, thanks. Jacob
Trying to decipher your post, I get it that the Linux display is what you are referring to. If this is the case, repost on the Linux section of the forum for more support.
If it is Windows, many video cards have a setup that will allow you to modify the screen size. In windows, RIGHT click on any empty space on the desktop then LEFT click on Properties. Select the advanced tab (If I remember correctly as I'm at a Vista PC and it's different in Vista). There should be another Advanced tab to access the Video card's setup parameters and if your card has the option you can set the screen size there, (for Windows only).

Thanks for your fast respond, What I am trying to explain is that the ubuntu display (interface) does not fill the whole screen area, it falls short at the top. Graphical settings are at their best. I have posted messages about Dell printer drivers and dual boot option for Dimension some time in 2006 and up to this date I have not receive any reply/solution. I have reposted the current message on Linux forum. Thanks, Jacob
