I have an optiplex gx110 I am trying to install windrows xp. The dell screen does not appear it goes to the backround picture. Can someone please help?
Sounds like your cd drive is not first in the boot order. Resart, enter Setup (bios)by pressing your designated key (F12?)at the beginning of boot and change it. Save the new boot order and reboot with the cd in the drive. You should see "Press any key to boot to cd." Press Enter and start the install.
Just adding to Mary G’s reply but your thread dated 01-02-2006 indicates you are aware of the F12 key procedure
From that & your recent HELP!!!!! thread that mentions quote, “reinstall” I’m assuming that you did have WXP previously installed on your Optiplex gx110?
Only asking since Optiplex gx110 predates WXP & there are known spec issues, BIOS, chipset, RAM etc..
But if you did have WXP previously installed?
Then you say quote, “There is nothing installed on the computer” what does that mean?
Have you made any hardware changes, e.g. installed a new hard drive or changed CD-ROM drive etc…?
Common causes of your problem are associated with incorrect IDE cable select or/& cable connections made, read this post
If you don’t get a solution here, try posting in Desktops > Workstations/Optiplex > General Hardware board
