    vh,

I just went there and checked my mail. Had no difficulty at all. You might click the link marked "difficulties signing in." There may be some sort of odd problem with your password (upper case, perhaps?) which is keeping you out.

My account (that I never use) is currently active and working fine, I don't think that hotmail is having any problems. Make sure that your password is in the same case as when you signed up and try again.

I also have no problems. I do know that someone else had the same problem, and it was because they hadn't signed out of Passport on a prior visit. If you always remember to click the Sign out of Passport icon after finishing you won't have that problem. I am posting a link, it has a line for signing out of Passport, worth a try.....

I had the same problem last week getting into Hotmail through IE, but I found I could get into Hotmail through Netscape Navigator. I reinstalled IE by running "ie5setup.exe" and now I can get right into Hotmail again through IE. I found this program file on my computer in two places: "C:\Windows Update Setup Files" folder, and "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer" folder.

Hope this will help you too.

Did you sign up for Microsoft Passport like I did?

Did you sign out of Passport? Go to a MSN page and look at the top right hand corner for the icon.

When you do that you will be able to get into Hotmail.

    Hi Linda Pierce,

Well there are certain things that we can check and see first. Firstly, are you able to connect to the internet? If yes, are you able to open other websites? If yes, then which browser are you using? If you are using Internet Explorer then we need to reset it and here are the steps that follow:

    1. Open Internet Explorer
    2. Click on Tools (or the Gear icon) and then click Options
    3. Go to the Advanced tab and then click on Reset
    4. Check Delete Personal Settings and then click on ok
    5. Then click on Apply / Close / Ok after it has done resetting.

After you have performed these steps, close Internet Explorer again and then try and open the website and see if it works. If it still does not work please download some other browser like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox and then see if these browsers can open the website. If not then try opening the website on a different computer or a smartphone.

Also check if you have Internet Explorer 10 installed on the computer. Generally, Internet Explorer 10 has compatibility issues with Windows 7, so you can also try and downgrade to Internet Explorer 9 and see if that helps. To uninstall Internet Explorer 10 go to Control Panel and click on Uninstall a Program / Program Features and then click on View Installed Updates on left hand side and then in the search box above type internet Explorer then select that from the update and uninstall it. Restart the computer and see if that helps.

Please reply after going through these steps and then we will take it further from there.

I'm thinkin that whatever issues they might have been having have probably been resolved since the original post in 1999

I am locking this thread as its highly outdated due to age and seems to require a java plugin which it shouldn't. If you need further assistance start a new thread.
