Inspiron 1720 wont install programs

Hello

I am trying to install Programs to my Inspiron 1720 running Vista.

When i open the installer it comes up with the error message

---------------------------
E:\Setup\rsrc\cod2.exe
---------------------------
Executable 'E:\Setup\rsrc\cod2.exe' had the following unrecoverable error:
Couldn't find library MSVCR80.dll (required by C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Backup\buShell.dll)
Please ensure that it is installed
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Does anyone know what is wrong and how to fix it or has any suggestions on where to get it rectified?

Many thanks

The thread at the following link deals with much the same problem. Looks like you should contact Activision for a solution.

For whatever reason, a necessary DLL is no longer installed on your computer?  All you need to do, is find the missing DLL (you'd find it on your OS CD/DVD), and copy it into your System32 folder.

As stated in the error message, the missing DLL is 'MSVCR80.dll' - but rather than trying to locate it on your OS CD/DVD... you can download it off one or other of the many websites which host DLL's.

DLL-Files have the file you need here.

Download it, copy it to your C:\Windows\System32 folder, and you'll be set ;)
