Internet Sound Files

I've recently set up a new Dell Dimension XPS system running WindowsXP Pro, and can no longer hear .wav files embedded in my own personal web pages.

When I open a web page containing this code...

<.embed SRC="path/filename.wav" WIDTH="135" HEIGHT="45" hidden="false" autostart="true" loop="false".>

...my browser does not render the console and does not play the .wav file.  However, using the same snippet of code with a .mid file rather than a .wav file works correctly.

Any help hearing my . wav sounds will be appreciated.

Thank you!

(Note: Periods added inside the code tag so it will display in this forum.)

Try closing the EMBED tag to see if that makes a difference. For example,
    <.embed SRC="path/filename.wav" WIDTH="135" HEIGHT="45" hidden="false" autostart="true" loop="false".><./embed>

Thank you for the reply, xley. I have tried that, but still no success with the wav files. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the fact that this machine is running the Sun Java environment rather than MicroSoft Virtual Machine. I tried to install MVM, but XP wouldn't let me.
