Keyboard layout
I've just re-installed XP on one of my computers. However, the keyboard mapping isn't correct. When I select @ it gives me ". And when I select £ I get # and so on.
I've tried to check everything but all seems well (UK keybaord 102 keys) and am now getting frustrated.
Can anyone give me any clues please?

This is most likely a software/configuration issue, not hardware (this section). But, when you installed XP did you select the correct language?

Yes sorry. It is a software issue and I should have put the query there. (Perhaps a moderator would like to move this query?)
Yes, I selected English and UK keyboard (for everything).

Thanks Ron - I knew it had to be somewhere but couldn't find it!!!! Yes, the keyboard ahd inadvertantly been set to US and I found it under Languages/Details.
Thanks very much. Saved me reloading XP in frustration.

Microsoft didn't make this easy to setup! :emotion-12:
Open the Regional and Languages Options control panel.
Click Regional Options tab and set the following:
Standards & Formats: English UK
Location: UK
Click Languages tab and click Details button, then:
Click Settings tab and set the following
Default Input Language: English (UK)
Installed Services: highlight Keyboard - English (UK) - If your keyboard isn't listed, click Add button and select the correct English (UK) keyboard.
Click OK back to previous screen and be sure to highlight the correct keyboard under Installed Services.
Click Advanced tab and set:
Language for non-Unicode progams : English (UK)
Click OK back to desktop and reboot. WHEW!!
