Language bar greyed out
Hi: I want to use speech recognition.
I went into Add/Remove Programs in Ctrl Pannel, highlighted Office 2003, Clicked "Change", and added speech recognition from the origional program CD.
Then, I went into Regional Settings, and got to the window called, “Text Services and Input Languages”, “Settings”, “Installed Services” I get English (United States),
Handwriting Recognition,
o Drawing Pad,
Keyboard
o United States – Dvork
o US
Speech Recognition
But, the Language Bar button remains greyed out.
And I have gone into Word, clicked on the drop down Tools menu and selected Speech – to no result.
I have even gone into the Office Wizard and Repaired Office 2003 by doing a re-install.
This is a new computer – 60 days old. I installed Office 2003 because I had it on my old computer which was replaced by this new one.
Any other help you can provide would be very appreciated.

- There are many suggestions in Office Help that you can research. Just open Word, Help and look up Language Bar or Speech Recognition. The MS Office Assistance site might help. The Software-Office forum might be able to help, too.

I have trid all these research options. They all address [rpblems once you have the Language bar installed, but there is no Knowledge Base article, White Paper, or Office Help tht address this problem. I spent 3 hrs. with Dell XPS Specialized help and they could not solve the problem. They finally referred me to MS Help. A Case Number has been issued and when I have another ew hours I will call them. But I will then use up one of the two free technical help calls I am entitled to with the purchase of MS Office 2003.
But if anyone can provide me with a solution, I would love to hear it before I use up my free help.

Click Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options.
Click Regional and Language Options, and then click the Languages tab.
Under Text services and input languages, click Details.
On the Settings tab, click Language Bar, and then select the Show the Language bar on the desktop check box.
