    Hello,

I want to reinstall my mini-9 laptop from Dell.

I have bought this computer in 2009 by dell. I presume that cd's with software were deliverd, but I can not find them anymore.

How do I get the right software to reinstall?
The mini-9 has no disk-drive, so how can I reinstall software?

Why does Dell not offer a email-account were you can ask questions?  Every time I start in the website I am being redirected to some telephone help or 'write a letter' information.

No, you cannot presume that the Windows CD came with the laptop.

Most likely there is a recovery partition from where you can re-store the laptop to from the factory condition.

I know for sure that drivers and XP-software came with the pc. Nowadays, PC restore is implemented before sale. In 2009 (when I bought this pc), this was not the case.

Can someone help me to the XP-cd and driver cd for the dell mnini 910 pc?

I phoned Dell, but they can not help me. I am out of service, besides that, XP is out of service as from May 2013! Furthermore, Dell mini 910 has only drivers for Xp. so newer systemns like windows 8 or 9 can not be used.

Therefore I desperately need  the XP-cd and de drivers-cd

    Hi Andre,

You would need a USB optical drive to install the operating system.

Please click the link mentioned below to place a request for disks:

Note: The link is for US only.

    Thanks & Regards

    Thanks for your reply!

I phoned Dell-Netherlands. They will NOT support me. XP drives are not avaliable anymore in the Netherlands, because

    XP is out of service.

Dell mini 910 only allows XP and no newer operating system, so I really need XP.

    I am in a deadlock!

I buy a PC from Dell with XP and within 4 years time the message is: no support possible!

It's hard to believe that no XP disk can be delivered to me! Although service is over, many people, if not the majority, will still use XP as the main operating system, especially if the 910 pc does not allow newer operatinmg systems!!

    What to do?

The problem is that Microsoft is ending all support for XP (including security updates) on April 9, 2013 -- after that, consider using XP ONLY for applications that do not involve access to the Internet.

You will have to purchase an OEM version of XP Home or XP Pro Online.

    2 new

    You could also install UBUNTU

Driver CD's are not available but individual Drivers are.

You can Actually Boot from the SD slot with Ubuntu on the Inspiron 910 /Mini 9

You are from the Netherlands so you must call Dell Technical Support to request the XP Reinstallation CD. If they cannot get you one see if a friend has one you can borrow. You will need to convert the Reinstallation CD into a Reinstallation USB.

Windows Reinstallation Guide nLite: Update your Windows XP Reinstallation CD (page 337) instructs you how to do this. A Clean Install of Windows XP (page 209) instructs you in how to clean install Windows XP.

    http://philipyip.wordpress.com/dell-community-forums/

However as you mentioned Windows XP reaches its end of life in less than a year time it is not worth reinstalling Windows XP.

Install Windows 7 32 bit most things will work natively. See the Windows Reinstallation Guide/A Clean Install of Windows 7 and install without a product key, this will allow you to evaluate the system for 30 days for testing purposes. Dell don't provide the drivers but install the following:

    System utilities
