I have had a long day of troubles with Office. First of all, it wasn't recognising my printer, and then after following some guides online, I got this problem:
I was told to download the trial version of Office, just so that I could run a repair of Office through it. So I tried that, and now it has overwritten my full activation code for the trial version. I cannot find my OEM activation code for Office either - It was preinstalled when I got the computer, So I'm not even sure if I was given a code for it.
In short, I cannot activate my software. It was bought from Dell when I customised my computer, but now I cannot do anything with the software. Is there any way to get a copy of the activation key, or is there somewhere where they may have hidden it? Some email somwhere?
In reference to your post, every Dell computer will have the MS office starter version which will be pre-installed, we can get it back by doing a PC restore i.e restoring the computer to factory settings. If you have purchased a complete version of MS office you would have got a disc or card with the license key. Losing the complete version of MS office cannot be recovered by PC restore, the only way to get it back is to reinstall the entire application using the disc or the license key, since you say that you have not got any disc or the license key. May be it is just the starter version of MS office so my suggestion is to perform a PC restore. Doing a PC restore on your computer will take your computer to the factory defaults with all the data getting deleted, data back Is recommended before a PC restore.
Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Restore.
Pick a time before you installed the trial version,
Once the system restore is complete, please download and install Belarc Advisor. Take note of any product keys this software gives you for Microsoft Office and ensure that it isn't the same product key as the trial version. Let me know how that goes. Once you have the key we can see if we can fix your office woes.
