I lost my dancer and tried to get it back and ended up losing my Windows digital Media Enhancements. Is there a way to get them back? I tried reinstalling through Add Remove but it calls for a cd that I don't seem to have. It wants the "cmpnents\mediactr\i386" files in partymode.exe. I put in the operating disk that dell sent but it doesn't find what it wants there.
I would be more interested in why your system restore "hasn't worked for a while." If this is your computer, see this link for instructions on how to turn restore on or off.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310405/en-us . If htis turns out not to be the problem, you may want to do a virus scan from your feshly updated AV program. You should also do a spyware scan from some of the free programs available such as Windows Defender found at
www.microsoft.com/downloads .
My system restore hasn't worked since I installed norton systemworks with goback. Goback was confusing so I uninstalled norton and reinstalled without goback. My system restore still did not work and I cannot get it back. I tried troubleshooting it but did not help.
pastle, it is possible that you will find a product to completely remove Norton Goback on the Symantec support pages. I suspect restore will not work until you have completely removed Norton Go back. Have you tried to turn it on from the link I posted?
Assuming you had Go Back version 4 installed, you can completely remove the program by inserting the install disk and follow the instructions here. .http://service1.symantec.com/Support/goback.nsf/docid/2006100623211658?Open&src=hot&docid=2003050713255158&nsf=goback.nsf&view=docid&seg=hho&lg=en&ct=us&pid=2003050713255158&pkb=goback . If you have a different version, search for it on the Symantec site under http//:service1.symantec.com/support/goback .
