MS DOS error message

I am trying to load new software onto my computer. This is the error message that is coming up.

C:/WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT

The system is not suitable for running MS DOS and microsoft windows applications choose to terminate application.

Can anyone help?

Is this a DOS application you are trying to load?

Yes, it is a C++ programing software for a college class. Another community member suggestes that I
download 16bit_fix.exe. I am going to try that. Please let me know if you have any further suggetstions. Thanks
