Hey everyone, I have the windows XP professional media for my inspiron 9100 laptop, im ordering a E1705 machine that has Media Center, can I use the xp pro media from the 9100 on the E1705? it doesnt seem too old and its just a regular windows xp pro retail cd... let me know from your experience what you think, I'm technically not 'stealing' it because I already own a license to it (as long as i dont use it on my 9100 still, i should be legit). but let me know, thanks...

No. OEM versions are limited to one system, just like it says in the EULA to which you must agree when you first use the systems.

Solely for use on the system it originally accompanied. You may transfer a retail version to another system if you remove it from the original system. The same does not hold true for OEM versions.
(as long as i dont use it on my 9100 still, i should be legit)

While it might work it is not legal. The copy of XP Pro that came with the 9100 is licensed for use only on the computer with which it was sold.
