Uninstalling SeaMonkey obviously left behind traces that SpywareBlaster is detecting.

 

In Windows XP, navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\ \Application Data\Mozilla
In Vista, go to C:\Users\ \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla

 

In this Mozilla folder, find the file named registry.dat, and rename it to something like registry.old.dat

That should resolve your problem.

 

Finally, you should not be concerned that SpywareBlaster protecting a browser you no longer have installed poses any threat to your system.

Not that I know of.

 

You could always uninstall Firefox, remove the SeaMonkey traces, and re-install FF. Seems like a lot of work to remove a few leftover files though.

I can't answer your questions, as I've never used SeaMonkey nor Vista. But here's my best guess~

 

You might do a search for the files in the link I suggested, to see if any exist (mozver.dat especially). When you uninstalled SeaMonkey, this file (which is shared with Firefox) was not deleted. 

 

I suspect mozver.dat is the leftover file that was telling SpywareBlaster that you still had SeaMonkey installed. But if you delete it now you likely will cripple Firefox.

 

My previous advice about renaming registry.dat applied to SeaMonkey 1.0, and I suspect you had tried the more recent version 2.0, which does not use this file.

Maybe the un-installer in Seamonkey isn't cleaning out everything. Did you use the un-installer that Seamonkey provided or control panel, add/remove programs?

 

Did you try using Windows Installer CleanUp Utility or try deleting the files manually? Right click start, left click explore, program files, Seamonkey. Look for an un-installer there and use it. If none, then delete the folder and restart your computer.

  Your suggestions weren't helpful unfortunately. Here's why---you told me to right click on "explore, program files, SeaMonkey"....BUT as I mentioned before, there IS NO FILE FOLDER for this program. I removed everything, to my knowledge anyway. I can't delete any folder for this if I've already done that. Also, I installed the Windows uninstaller, but again, the SeaMonkey program was NOT THERE since I already removed it. And I used the add/remove programs to remove it, not the uninstaller in the program. I wasn't aware that I had to do it any other way since it always would work with any other program I've tried to uninstall. How is this program STILL on here, but yet I can't find it??

   When I go to C/users/username> there is no AppData folder. If it's supposed to be there, it's not. But I don't get why just doing a search in the WHOLE system, that the SeaMonkey traces wouldn't show up.

  Ok I'm kind of confused. What I should have asked right from the start is, why would there even be a Mozilla folder if I didn't have Firefox? And even if there WAS one there from SeaMonkey, I would have seen it and removed it. There was NO file under that name even BEFORE I reinstalled Firefox--I removed it for whatever reason recently and reinstalled it. So, why is it telling me to just look for this folder as if it was there all along. If it was in my program files, I think it would have been detected by now. If there is a way to do a deeper search that would turn up these hidden files, feel free to share that with me:smileyhappy:

I don't know if this is going to help with SpywareBlaster, nor do I know if it was covered previously.  You told Joe there is no AppData folder.  I'm presuming you're using Vista.  I don't use Vista, but as far as I know it's a hidden folder.   You  might want to try checking to see if the Profile Folder for SeaMonkey still exists.  

 

You'll need to have administrative ability to be able to unhide it and see the folder.  Press the Windows key + R.  Type %APPDATA% .. then OK.
