reformatting and installing winXP

Hi, I just erased my hard drive and reinstalled windows.  Now when it starts to reboot I get asked which operating system I want to boot to.  I only loaded one, they are both the same winXP home edition, the second one doesn't work though.  I don't want to have to choose one I just want it to boot up without that.  I looked to erase the second partition but it only shows one partition, so not sure what to do here or why it is showing up with 2 bootable operating systems.

    Ternan,

Go to Start|Run, enter msconfig and click oK. On the BOOT.INI tab click "Check all boot paths." One will be marked as not valid and you will be able to delete it at that time.

    Thanks

Acutally I fixed it, I did a long format instead of a quick and it somehow took care of it.  If there is ever a next time I will do it the way you suggested as it would be much faster.
