I recently got a virus W32.Spybot.Worm. I am running XP with norton 04, norton won't delete or quarintine the virus but tells me to go into the registry files. When I type in "regedit" at the run prompt it pops up a black window with nothing in it. This is a problem I assume. Is there any way to fix the virus or registry problem?
here is the symantec webpage with instructions for removing "w32.spybot.worm".. scroll down to the bottom of the webpage for the removal instructions..
maybe regedit will run for you while the computer is running in safe mode..
if you have "spybot s&d" installed, the anti-adware program, you could try using it to remove the "w32.spybot.worm" "startup" regkeys.. run spybot s&d, go to :"tools", then "startup" (or however it is worded), and see if you can remove the "w32.spybot.worm" startup-regkeys from there..
