I'm on the verge of reinstalling XP on a dell dimension 3000 thats been attacked by virtumonde and other viruses (despite the fact i have Norton AV&FW active and updated on it), randomly freezes where even the mouse will not move and various other things are just messed up about it.
I have a Windows reinstall DVD but i don't have a CD with all the drivers on it. Do I need the drivers CD to go ahead with the reinstallation? I know i can download the drivers from dell.com but can i do that after XP is installed?

1. Inventory your hardware before you reinstall, note the model of your Modem, NIC, and Video, there will be multiple choices at the Dell downloads for the 3000.
2. Download them ahead of time and save to CD or flash drive.
3. Change the Dell names of the Rxxxx files to something like Chipset, Video, Nic, Audio, Modem, so you know what they are, or use folder names to do this.
Install drivers in this order only
0. Desktop System Software, found under "System Utilities"
