I shipped a desktop back to Dell yesterday, and everything regarding components (hardware, CDs, manuals, etc.) were included and the box was secured very well.
However, when I first got the product I reformated to Windows XP Home (from MCE) because there was a lot of advertisements. I told the customer support person, and she said that as long as I had the CDs included it didn't matter if the ads were gone.
Well, I put all the CDs it came with in the box (it did not come with a restore CD) and like I said I shipped it.
Tell me, are they going to be mean about it and say I need the advertisement-infested media center version? It's not like it's hard to reinstall the operating system, which I presume they do anyway, and if thats the only reason they send it back (because there is no other reason they would), do I have to go into a big production?
The support has been very good thus far, and I would hate for it to end over something as easily fixed as this. It is not my fault it didn't come with a restore CD.
So it doesn't matter if it isn't media center edition?
Oh, and I returned it because I wasn't completely satisfied with performance. Nothing to do with damage or anything, I just wanted to get a better system.
