Roxio and SP2

I've installed a new system disk and reinstalled XP Home on a 2350.  I upgraded to all the latest patches which of course includes SP2.

When I try to use the Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.2 Reinstall disk it says that it is the wrong version for the installed OS.  I've looked through Dell's site and finally went to Roxio but cannot determine what version I should d/l for installation with XP post SP2.

Does anyone here know?  If nothing free from Roxio works, is there something else free that I can load?

Thanks!

The update to 5.3.5 for either Platinum (top of page) or Basic (bottom of page) versions of Roxio ECDC shoud do the trick.

Is the patch listed here or can someone post it?

I cannot d/l from Roxio's site b/c I'm not registered.  When I try to register the prompts do not include version5.2.  I tried to choose the oldest one there, but then I'm asked for a product key which I do not have which then prevents me from registering.

Nero is not free.  Free?? You get what you pay for.  Before XP, Roxio was solid, but after XP was released, they have had all kinds of probelms, even thought the internal XP burning software is Roxio based.  Go figure.

    RE:  Nero

    Is there a free version?

Does XP have this capability itself?

XP has CD burning included . . right click on the files you want to burn  . select Send To . . select your CD /RW disc and you will get a bubble that informs you that you have data to burn to CD . . click that and follow the prompts.

You need the Roxio update (even for SP1).

When you install Roxio it will tell you, as you have found out, that it's incompatible.  Just go ahead and install it, but do not try to use it.  Download the updates for the specific version of Roxio that you have, install the updates and you should be OK.  I've had to do that for a couple of customers with V5 Roxio (both basic and platinum).

    Re:  Registering

I've tried to register at Roxio, but their process requires you to identify your product from their pull down menu.  That menu does not include the 5.2 product.  When I choose their oldest (lowest number) version then I am prompted to enter a valid product key.  Since I don't have one I cannot enter one and the process won't let me continue until I enter one.

I get this when I click on the English "download" link.

    http://www.roxio.com/en/jhtml/ftp/patchdownload.jhtml;jsessionid=A32NFNCYBL55ZLAQAQHCM4Q?_requestid=1649795

If the Roxio sw license is your's this download may give you the product number.
