I have been having problems with some programs that open, but nothing ever happens. The hourglass appears but you never get to execute the program. I have to hit ctl/alt/delete to end the program.
I have been having problems with the system running slow and I fear that the two are related.
Start --> Run ---> msconfig ---> click Startup at the top right and then disable all Startup Items except your antivirus software (you can be sure which item is which by expanding the Command column), if that doesnt help....
Run Hard Drive diagnostics from the F12 menu when you turn on your system....if no errors come back, then reboot and press F12 again and choose Boot to Utility Partition, from there, run a 'Custom Test' on your Memory
If at the very least, try removing 1 stick of RAM if you have 2 sticks, or remove 2 sticks (both white or black) if you have 4 sticks installed.....if removing doesnt work the first time, then put those back and remove the other ones and test.......if the system speeds up, then you know you have a bad stick of RAM =) but thats the last resort haha
