I just got my new 8400, which has Sonic Record ver7. My old 4100 had EZ CD. All my backups from various programs are with EZCD. On trying to update my backups, I get the following message
" Your version of Sonic DLA can read the files but you will not be able to edit or add to them"
Some programs such as Quicken will not back up. Should I revert to EZCD and dump the Sonic.
I have the same problem. I could read, but not write to CDs created on my older Dell computer which uses a different CD writing program. I called Dell, they said it is an incompatability issue between the two programs. What I did was: I created new CDs for each one I wanted to use, not by doing a direct copy from one CD to another, but, I copied the CD contents from the original CD onto my hard drive, removed the original CD, then copied the files from the hard drive onto a new blank formatted CD created on my new machine. I keep the old ones just for backups. Hope this helps.
I never rely on these programs for my important Backups. Always use other means and keep backup- backups, such as zip Drives. I was just a bit caught out with the incompatibility of two programs doing the same thing.
