Sonice Record Now updates

I wrote earlier about slow shutdown after I downloaded the update for Sonic Record Now and I have had nothing but problems.  Now it won't let me connect to the 'check for updates'   The update was to FIX problems not create them.  Anyone else found a solution?  I'd uninstall and reinstall but not real sure how to do it so that  I won't have further problems. I would do a system restore but during the installation I was prompted to uninstall the current Sonic DLA. If I do a restore--will that leave me without the DLA completely? Thanks for any help.

I can only find one sonic CD that came with my software, should there be more?  Also when I downloaded the update it prompted me to uninstall the old DLA and it installed the 4.95.3 version.
I am not the most literate comptuer user so I don't understand about the Driver page.  Also, I didn't know that I could reinstall over the old without uninstalling what was on here.  Maybe since it's the same version????   Sorry I sound so stupid.   Thanks for your help.   I've tried searching everything regarding the slow shutdown.  Don't see anything running at shutdown and I don't get an "end" message at shutdown either--just slowwwwwww.

u have the sonic software CDs that came with your PC? ... u can reinstall the software over the excisting software . my guess is that the sonic update service is running in the background.. also there is a newer DLA version 5x , if u search the driver page of your pc, id try reinstalling the software with the sonic CDs

not sure if there should be more CD's as i have 2 that look the exact same   .. but u can use the CD to reinstall the software . when the CD installs  it will either over write the software u have now or it will uninstall the software then it will reinstall the software from the CD.. im completely sure this is a good solution... go to the driver page after u install type in your service tag # all the drivers and software patches will be shown.. or just select your PC model # on the dell driver page..the web page i gave u in the post above  is a full install of the record now software as far as i know.... reboot your PC after u install the CD if u decide to reinstall it

No error message---It was an update they prompted me to do a long time ago and I didn't.  It was to fix a startup and freeze problem--which I never seemed to have.  Guess I should have left well enough alone.  It said it was 'critical'.  Anyway,  now when I go into Sonic help and click on check for updates it tells me I can't connect and check for internet connections etc. jumble. I never had that problem before I did this update, nor the problem with slow shutdown.  Thanks for your response.

Thanks so much for all your help and info.  I will certainly think about the reinstall. I found the driver page, even tho I don't understand it all.    I had just read somewhere that one should do a 'clean install' and that sounded difficult with a lot of steps to go through.  Thanks again for you patience and all your help.

Dont be afraid :) Read through slowly. As long as you follow the directions you will not mess anything up. My opinion is every tutorial should have pictures to accompany their directions and not just text.
