I am on a Inspiron 1520 running Vista but suddenly my start up will not complete and the PC goes ina loop. When I kill the start up it offers me the option to repair but it doesn't. Anyone any idea what I can do?
Have you tried booting into Safe Mode? If not, you may be able to enter Safe Mode and do a System Restore from there. Hit F8 repeatedly as the system starts up to get this (and other) recovery options.
If that doesn't work, try using the Windows disk that came with your 1520. From there, you can try the "last good configuration" and also System Restore.
If all else fails, you can restore it to its factory-new condition. The problem with this is that you lose any non backed-up data and you've got to re-install all the programs.
