System Idle Process using 86% to 93% cpu
Can anyone tell me why system idle process is using so 93% of the cpu most of the time. My computer runs slow and there is definitely something going on. I have scanned with Norton and Spybot and nothing is found. I downloaded Process Explorer, and that is now I have the above information, but I am not sure just how to use all the information and what to do to rectify the overuse of the processor.
I checked the Application Event Utility and the following was noted consistently as an error:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: COM+
Event Category: Unknown
Event ID: 4689
Date: 8/5/2009
Time: 6:11:58 PM
User: N/A

Description:
The run-time environment has detected an inconsistency in its internal state. This indicates a potential instability in the process that could be caused by the custom components running in the COM+ application, the components they make use of, or other factors. When I went to the above link, it had no information for this error.
The following was also listed in Application Event Errors regularlyEvent Type: Error
Event Source: MSDTC
Event Category: SVC
Event ID: 4437
Date: 8/5/2009
Time: 5:03:39 PM

Description:
The account that the MS DTC service is running under is invalid. This can happen if the service account information has been changed using the Services snap-in in Microsoft Management Console (MMC). MS DTC service will continue to start. Please make sure that the MS DTC service account information is updated using the Component Services Explorer.

, and I have changed the service to start automatically from manual, but it does not change the error appearing. I have never made any changes to the MMC as I am a stand-alone computer and don't have a network. But some of the updates from Microsoft Update may have changed this entry and I cannot find information on just what needs to be done to keep the error from recurring:
Under System events the errors were as follows:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7034
Date: 8/5/2009
Time: 6:14:56 PM
User: N/A
Computer: DJLD2331
Description:
The COM+ System Application service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 5 time(s).
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Again there was no help at the site above on this error.
I hope that someone has found the solution to these errors, and maybe that will correct the system idle using so much of the processor.
I have a Inspiron 600m, SP3, Explorer 8, Intel Pentium M Processor, 1300mhz 1.29 Ghz 1.25 GB of Ram
