System pauses/freezes while starting up

Running Windows XP, Professional on a 9300.

After my system starts up and the icons appear the desktop, the system freezes/pauses for 20-40 seconds.  I get no error messages or any other indication of problems.. it just freezes then continues w/no problems.

My guess is that it is trying to load something but I have no idea what they may be.  Any idea who I can figure this out?  Is there a startup log I can access to look for errors/problems?

Thanks

Are there any devices attached to the USB ports on the computer?  You can also go through msconfig to disable various startup items until you find the one that causes this freeze.
