Trojan problem

How can I remove a trojan from a running program?  My anti-virus program (PC-cillan) can't do it.  It's located in c:\_RESTORE\ARCHIVE\FS1260.CAB.  I don't even know how to get there much less how to get rid of it!

Thanks

    mig,

I didn't look there, but try Symantec.com site. Are you sure it's a trojan? Maybe try running Spybot or AdAware as well. What program is it associated with?

I am having the same problem.  AVG found the virus but could not get rid of it.  I have been trying unsuccessfully for about two weeks now.  My computer is now running so slow, I can't stand it.  I don't know what to do either.  AVG definitely said it was a trojan and it was C:\RESTORE.A00-----? It could not delete it and I tried to use Housecall but it would just freeze up everytime I tried. If anyone has an answer, I would be so relieved.

The trojan seems to be in your _Restore folder which is a part of system restore.

To get rid of it ( trojan ) follow the steps in the MS article.

You will lose all of your present restore points with the exception of the one that is created when you reboot.

I am going to try and disable the system restore.  Last night the computer was really bad and I had to shut down. When I tried to run a scan disk, it froze.  I tried to do a system restore and it wouldn't let me.

I called Dell and ran the diagnostic cd and they told me it looked like the hard drive is bad and I need a new one.   Could this trojan have damaged my hard drive?
