updating bios

I have an XPS 14 Dell

Dell support says there is a BIOS critical update required.

When trying to load the BIOS update, I get the error message that the system is presently under Intel Anti-theft 4.0 and that I must un-enroll the client.

How do I do this?

Fred

    Hi Fred,

You have to disable Computrace in the BIOS. Please follow the steps provided below to disable it:

    1. Restart the computer and start tapping F2 at the Dell logo for the System Setup(BIOS) page to load.
    2. Navigate to the “Security” section using the left and right arrow keys.
    3. In the Security section, navigate to “Computrace” using the up and down arrow keys.
    4. Change the setting to “Deactivate” using the F5/F6 keys.
    5. Press “F10” to “Save and Exit”.

Please boot into Windows and install the BIOS update and let us know about the status.

    1. Restart the computer and start tapping F2 at the Dell logo for the System Setup(BIOS) page to load.
    2. Press the “F9” key to load the optimized defaults and restart the computer if prompted.
    3. Install the BIOS update.

However, if you receive the same message again, we will have to check the system details and research to obtain a resolution.  I have added you as a friend.
